STUDENT VACATIONS.

Taking a good amount of time away from the stresses of daily school life can give you a break you need so that you can return to your academic life refreshed and better equipped to move through the next semester.
A trip up  mount Kenya provides students from all over the world with one of the most irresistible choice touring, natural attractions and nature based activities. Every year sees students flock in hundreds to discover the great outdoors at Mt. Kenya.

 British students June this year.
One of the most remarkable things about students group travel is that you will have ample opportunity to spend quality time with good friends and get to know acquaintances better. It also helps create new friendships with those who share a similar interest in expeditions.

You get a chance to make a lifetime‘like-minded friends.’

How much does a trip to Mt. Kenya cost?

We are aware that students do not usually have a lot of spare money. We do have a special package for students and will always try to get a discounted group or students rate to minimize the cost to you.

If you start planning early, you will have a much wider range of dates to choose from. Some students book their trips as far ahead as one year in advance. Get in early to ensure you get the time you want.  Once the trip is booked in the academic calendar, you can lock in the appropriate resources and funding well ahead of time.

HOW WE OFFER PERSONALISED SERVICES.

Yesterday I had the pleasure to accompany two third year students pursuing Cultural Anthropology & Sociology at the Utrecht University of the Netherlands to the Mau Mau caves. (used as hideouts by the freedom fighters during the colonial era).
The excursion to the caves is something that just popped out after I took some interest and learning they were anthropology students. They were particularly interested in Kenya’s colonial history. They flew to Kenya after booking a four day trip to Mt. Kenya with us. We made their seven day stay in Kenya more worthwhile than they would have ever thought! I have been working with them to help them find resources on Kenya’s colonial history giving them tips on Google Advanced search and image searches to refine the key information they find.
This unique and rich part in Kenya’s colonial history will not normally appear in many data bases or mainstream publications.

                                                  The cave's enterance
Through the excursion to the Mau Mau caves, the students learned a lot about Kenya’s freedom fighting history.
They were both excited; with their clipboards, cameras and pencils. The current site is spectacular which is presently the Forester’s office and served as the DO’s administration post during the colonial era with the caves just adjacent to it. We were lucky to be tipped off to an elderly lady’s house that lives in the vicinity and also a former freedom fighter that was happy to answer their questions. They listened carefully while I translated her answers to them and asked more questions as she helped them understand the overwhelming facts and conditions of those who fought in the caves as their hide outs.

They left extremely happy and carried with them some souvenirs to mount as an exhibition.

Companies opting for this unique teambuilding activity?

The perfect alternative to the formal Team building activities.

Mount Kenya Trek Expeditions offers you a unique team building Experience.

A Day-trip to Mount Kenya.

An intense experience might just lead to intense results!!

The key aim of a team building activity is to have heightened and more productive working relationships and to boost overall efficiency levels across the business. The wrong choice of team building activities may fail to meet the above. Research shows many companies do the same formal team building activities over the years till it becomes monotonous and yields little or no effect. It further shows that a certain percentage does feel comfortable doing the strenuous activities in most formal team building activities and which only allows for a superficial sense of interaction and fun but do not allow for bonding.
Lets see the advantage of walking.
It is easy. It burns calories. Everyone can do it.
Scientific research supports its efficacy at inducing and maintaining weight loss. So why not strap the pedometer and go for the gold?

What gives a day trip team building at Mt Kenya an upper hand?

Hiking is good for both body and mind.
Hiking outdoors has plenty of perks. Nice views, fresh air and the sounds and smells of nature.
It is good for you too!!
Hiking is a powerful cardio work out that can lower your risk for heart disease, improve your blood pressure and blood sugar levels. Boost your mood. Research shows that hiking has a positive impact in combating symptoms of stress and anxiety.
This is an activity tailored with the entire team having one goal. To ascend, get to great heights, and set their goal there. This is a very powerful walk and the members of the team bond naturally right from the start of the trek.

This is a team building activity with enduring value, created to provide unforgettable and meaningful experience that participants will keep talking about, learning from and building upon.

Prepare yourself as you are about to embark on a virtual tour exploring one of the most intriguing destinations on the planet.
About 200 Kilometers North of Nairobi; towers Kenya’s tallest and Africa’s Second Largest Mountain, which for hundreds of years had been revered by the local communities that live around the mountain as the Holy seat of their God. It is presently recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

The mountain also has other subsidiary peaks giving it diverse climbing possibilities on rock, snow and ice.

VEGETATION

The mountains elevates from 1400 metres above the sea level to 5199 metres. In between these there lie distinct vegetation zones beginning from the Savanna to the Glaciers. The vegetation is however dependent on rainfall, moisture, altitude and the aspect of the slope. Past the savanna, at the base of the mountain are found fertile farmlands, rain forest whose vegetation mainly depends on rainfall. Above the rainforest is a belt of bamboo forest, hagenia zone, heath
and moorland with field lobelias
and giant lobelias and bare rocks and glaciers found at the topmost.

WILDLIFE

A variety of animals can be seen on the trek to Mount Kenya. Herds of buffaloes, waterbucks, baboon and colobus monkeys and occasionally, elephants. Sunbirds, hyrax and soaring eagles make a trek on this volcano one of the most unique mountaineering experiences in the world !!
` Inset: the rock hyrax ‘Mt. Kenya polar bear’ is well adapted to survive in the extremely cold temperatures. With little presence of life on the rocks, the Rock Hyrax could easily become your closest friend>

GLACIERS:

Permanently snow capped, the glaciated cliffs and glaciers are a strikingly awe inspiring the remnants of a massive extinct volcano. It’s ironical that a mountain with such proximity to the Equator is snow-capped. However; with glaciers not dependent on altitude, with an average adiabatic rate of 6® C per 1000 m, Mt. Kenya is cold enough that the snow pack doesn’t melt away. This accumulation of snow pack has formed several glaciers at Mount Kenya namely: Nor they, Krapf, Gregory, Lewis, Diamond, Darwin,Forel,Heim,Tyndall,Ceser and Josef.
The glaciers at Mount Kenya offer spectacular views and scenery of the magnificent complex.

The largest LEWIS GLACIER:

LAKES

If you crave for the worlds most stunning views, the lakes at Mt. Kenya will satisfy your crave with their evocative appeal and the mountain lurking in the background. The combination of catching a glimpse of a Kingfisher catching a mountain trout at Lake Michaelson is a winning combination.
You can also take a gentle stroll alongside lake Alice, (the famous proposal site for England’s Prince William.
The scenes around Mt. Kenya lakes are stunning, and from anywhere they are a photographer’s delight.

HEIGHTS

You will get a chance to set foot on incredible heights here at Mt. Kenya, get a chance to see vast African plains and plateaus below. On a clear morning you get a chance to see the summit of Kilimanjaro hundreds of miles away.

SUNRISE

Sun-up is the instant at which the upper edge of the sun appears on the horizon in the morning. Mt. Kenya one of the most breathtaking sunrise views on the planet. The eastern sunrise marvels locals and travelers everyday. As the sunrise tints the sky with shots of orange, yellow and gold,it is indeed spectacular in more ways than words can describe. Be sure to bring your pain brush so you can replicate the magnificent vibrant color scheme. If you can’t paint, be sure to bring your camera for one heavenly start to your day!
Hikers, Tourists and early explorers describe a similar emotion as they watch the sun emerge from the Eastern horizon and call the experience magical!
